  • The Stanley Church of Christ is a very lovely historical Church of Christ located just off Aska Rd along the Toccoa River. They have not had regular services there since about 1957 but still hold a single homecoming service each year on the fourth Sunday of August. Many fine folks have praised the Lord in prayer and in song from this Church building over its long lifetime of service. Certainly many also found the light of Jesus' salvation there. I indeed found that just visiting this church location to be an inspiring and encouraging experience which seemed to lay even more foundation to my overall faith and commitment to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

If while you are in this area I would encourage anyone wishing to attend regular Sunday services at a Church of Christ consider visiting with us south of there at the Pisgah Church Of Christ on Big Creek Road. Its an Ellijay address in the northeastern mountains of Gilmer County. Just go south on Aska Rd and turn right on Big Creek Rd at the brown wood national forest sign. It's a very scenic drive (+/- 15 minutes) been the two churches and the regular service begins at 11 AM. We would love to have you visit there and worship with us.

Also if you are interested further in the history of the Stanley Church of Christ, there is a very interesting newspaper article posted via a scanned PDF file on the internet from the Community section of The News Observer. The file I found had the date 12/28/02 handwritten at the top and was an interview with long-time attendee and caretaker Ralph Stanley. It's a great history. I had also uploaded an image of it with this review to go along with my pictures of the church, however the Google maps platform apparently will not keep pictures of articles likely due to copyright concerns.
